May 8, 2010 – In a glittering event on 3 May in Kolkata, India, the top 30 contestants for ‘I AM SHE 2010 – the Official Preliminary to the 2010 Miss Universe were unveiled. These talented girls were selected through a nation wide hunt in which thousands of hopeful participated. Sushmita Sen, the soul of I AM SHE 2010 and the proud mentor of these young beauties played host to the event. Miss Asia Pacific 2000 and renowned Bollywood actor, Dia Mirza, encouraged the girls and added further excitement to the festivities.

An extremely excited, Sushmita Sen confessed “Today, being the India license holder for holding the preliminary to ‘2010 Miss Universe’ pageant, 16 years after bringing the crown to India, feels like life has come full circle for me. Having been in that position I understood that language could be a barrier for many aspiring women, and thus we are proud to say that ‘I AM She 2010’ has no language barrier… we allow the contestants to express themselves in any language they are comfortable with, aided by interpreters. I believe Indian girls are the most beautiful in the world and without doubt have the most substance and courage in them. I aspire to celebrate the uniqueness of these 30 deserving contestants and hope to bring back the crown this year!”

An elated Dia Mirza said: “I am confident that Sushmita will bring the grace, the glamour, and the intelligence to the 2010 Miss Universe India pageant. I am humbled to be invited here and delighted to be a part of this celebration. And I wish the contestants all the very best. I am sure they will make India proud!”

Tantra Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (TEPL) the Licensee for 2010 Miss Universe India Pageant will be holding the finale of I AM She 2010 on May 28, 2010. TEPL along with the Alchemist Group hopes to inspire the youth and ignite the nation’s collective consciousness towards pressing issues like cancer, environmental awareness, child welfare and people with special needs. This contest is purely a celebration of life, self discovery and confidence for these contestants.

The selected 30 contestants will undergo three weeks of intensive training under the most eminent experts in communication, diet, personal grooming, fashion, fitness etc. The likes of Sathya Saran, Dr. Jamuna Pai, Lubna Adam, Bharat & Dorris, Sandip Soparrkar will guide these girls through this hard-working, disciplined yet exciting journey.
